StateStride Terms of Service

Last updated: September 2026

These Terms govern your use of StateStride. Using the site means you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.

1. Independent educational resource

StateStride is an independent, private web utility. StateStride is not affiliated with, authorized by, endorsed by, or operated by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV), the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI), the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT), or any County Tax Assessor-Collector.

2. No legal, tax, or administrative advice

Checklists, statutory summaries, fee estimates, and procedural sequences on StateStride are for informational and educational purposes only. They are not legal, tax, or administrative advice. Official statutes, county surcharges, and document standards can change.

3. Counter examiner authority

Document verification, vehicle titling, registration fees, and driver license approvals are governed by Texas law, administrative rules, and the discretion of clerks and examiners at county tax offices and DPS driver license offices. StateStride does not guarantee that following the checklist will result in approval.

4. Official government documents are free

Official state forms (including TxDMV Form 130-U and Texas DPS Form DL-14A) are public documents available without charge from the agencies that publish them. StateStride provides organizational guidance and printable packets. Those packets are not official government forms, and we do not charge for state documents. We do not sell electricity, insurance, or appointments.

5. Third-party sites

Checklists link to official Texas resources (DPS, TxDMV, TDI, Power to Choose), facility maps on Google Maps, and the Report a bug or rule update form hosted by Tally. When you leave StateStride, that destination's terms and privacy policy apply.

6. Your responsibility

Confirm fees, forms, appointment rules, and document lists on official agency sites before you go to the counter. You are responsible for meeting Texas deadlines, including driver license transfer timing.

7. As-is provision

StateStride is provided on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or current with every legislative or county-level change.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, StateStride is not liable for rejected transactions, missed deadlines, outdated county procedures, or other losses from relying on the checklist or packets.

9. Changes

We may update these Terms. The “Last updated” date at the top is the notice of the current version. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.

10. Contact

Questions about these Terms go through Report a bug or rule update. That form is hosted by Tally, so Tally's Privacy Policy applies to the submission. Do not include Social Security numbers, driver license numbers, or VINs.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
